Completely owned by the rural women who harvest the crops and create the products, Khatamla Women’s Cluster brings all-natural essential oils and teas from small & marginalized farmers directly to you.

Our Process

Community-Centric & Women-Drive

1. Farmers of Khatamla grow & harvest aromatic crops

Small & marginal farmers are given high-quality planting material through government subsidies. Water-efficient crops suitable for the local environment are selected and grown using regenerative, indigenous agricultural practices, such as all-natural fertilizers that replenish the soil.
Crops are harvested at peak season to ensure freshness and quality.
2. Women from the Khatamla Cluster create oils & teas

Farmers bring their harvests to the Khatamla Women's Cluster's processing units, where local rural women employees distill oils and create teas for a fee.

Women employees are also being trained to package products and handle other business logistics.
3. Products are directly sold to the customer online, benefitting everyone

Customers benefit by getting their essential oils and teas straight from the source, ensuring high quality and a long shelf-life.

Women of the Khatamla Cluster are provided employment and payment from the processing fees farmers pay. Farmers keep all the profits from the sale of their products.

OUR STORY

How We Started

The Khatamla Women’s Cluster began as a fellowship project with Seva Mandir, an NGO based in Southern Rajasthan, in collaboration with CIMAP, a government department that provides farmers resources to grow highly-profitable aromatic plants.

CIMAP’s Aroma Mission provided infrastructure support, such as free planting material, market linkages, and technical trainings to farmers on how to grow and harvest crops.
